Just under a week ago, the scholars brought their time at the VESSS Summer Academy to a close. The students shared many heartfelt goodbyes, as they had become both successful teammates and good friends in the course of the week. To commemorate the inaugural summer academy, the Virginia Space Grant Consortium presented the scholars with a video of their experiences, which can be found below.
While at LaRC, our students heard about Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) from Gugu Rutherford. REUs are paid summer research positions at universities and institutions all over the US, and sometimes the world. REUs are funded by the National Science Foundation, and typically include a stipend, room, board, and relocation costs. Students are usually invited to apply starting after their freshman year of college. Interested students can find out more at the REU website.
We look forward to hearing great things about Week 1's future accomplishments, and can hardly wait for Week 2 to arrive on July 16th!
